Nintendo World Store Revisited

21/11/2013 By Brant Raven

After ausretrogamer’s glowing endorsement of the Nintendo World Store in New York City, I knew that I had to check it out and see what the big deal was all about. Once I hit the ‘Big Apple’, I knew exactly where to go.

Unlike my friend, I did not have my retro-gaming-tinted-glasses on. Don’t get me wrong, the Nintendo World Store is a magical place, especially the classic Nintendo section on the second level. I just felt that it needed more, perhaps an interactive setup of their classic gaming systems would have done the trick.

Comparing with ausretrogamer’s Nintendo World Store photos, I noticed that there had been some changes to the classic area exhibit. Gone was the Game Boy that survived a scud missile attack in the Gulf War. The other change was to the Nintendo (video game character) franchises – they were replaced with a timeline of Nintendo’s systems. The exhibits were still quite spectacular and managed to give me a hit of nostalgia.

Can I recommend the Nintendo World Store to you? It would be remiss of me not to. It is a great place to show your children the hardware and games you grew up on and perhaps for you to reflect on a bygone era of video gaming.

For more photos of my visit to the Nintendo World Store, check out the album.

Nintendo World Store

My bucket list is quite extensive. Amongst the usual things to do or see once in a life time, I managed to cross-off the big one – visiting the Nintendo World Store in New York City! Not only did I visit it once, I returned many times to soak it all in and stock up on Nintendo products. I even managed to take a load of photos and video for all you to enjoy – browse at your leisure over here.   [Read more…] about Nintendo World Store
