The Time is 1-Up On This Super Mario Bros. LED Clock

July 5, 2022 By ausretrogamer

Thanks to Ms. Ausretrogamer for sending this through – this Super Mario Bros. RGB LED Clock is a DIY project we reckon we can tackle! We love the DMD look on the RGB LED Matrix!

The instructions for this DIY build by Jonathas Barbosa are nice and easy to follow, so we have no excuse to not being able to get this done (unless there is a shortage on the parts required!). You got to admit, this animated Super Mario clock makes an awesome retro decoration!

So, who is making this?

Game and Watch: The Legend of ZeldaAfter this week’s Nintendo Direct, we are obviously most excited about the Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda announcement, with the green G&W beauty slated for release later this year (Friday, November 12 2021 to be exact)!

As part of its 35th anniversary celebration, this Game & Watch will let you play The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (Game Boy version), and a special Game & Watch edition of Vermin (featuring Link)! Just like the Game & Watch Super Mario, this will have a playable clock and timer too!

The Amazing Homemade Pong Watch

May 5, 2015 By Ms. ausretrogamer

pong-watch

This amazing Pong watch is truly homemade. The creator, John Maushammer, even made the casing and fabricated the board – watch the video to see the project in progress.

Maushammer says: ‘I succeeded in compressing all the electronics for this watch in to a 10mm-thick case. The 96×64 OLED display runs continuously – unlike older LED watches, there is no need to press a button to see the time. Battery life is 25 hours, so recharging is done every night.‘

And to top it off – Maushammer has made a second version which plays Asteroids controlled with a tilt sensor: ‘Usually, the computer plays automatically & it keeps time. But, it also has a tilt-sensor so you can aim the ship by moving your wrist around.’

Before you ask, sadly it doesn’t look like either of these watches are available to buy – but we can hope. It’s lucky there are plenty of other retrogaming watches to keep us occupied in the meantime!
