LEGO Ideas: METROID – E.M.M.I.

January 16, 2024 By ausretrogamer

Ah LEGO Ideas, you do get some pretty darn awesome product ideas, just like this METROID – E.M.M.I. entry by DirectorInfamousCockroach100!

What’s there not to love here, there is Samus Aran (based on her Metroid Dread appearance) and the E.M.M.I. robot enemies  featured in Metroid Dread!

DirectorInfamousCockroach100 states that:

Originally I was going to build Samus’ ship but I couldn’t crack the design :/ so here is the E.M.M.I! The Robot enemies featured in Metroid Dread.

The design here is a bit bulky but I wanted to try and make it as posable as possible! Of course it comes with a transparent stand just in-case, the build is not the most stable!

So if you are yearning for a Lego Metroid set of some kind, then you better get voting on this one!

Introducing the Lego Nintendo GameCube and Controller

March 21, 2023 By ausretrogamer

YouTuber Peter Knetter has built a fully functional Lego Nintendo GameCube with a matching GCN controller!

The hardware inside the console and controller of course aren’t made from Lego, Peter has repurposed an existing GameCube’s internals for both the console and controller, but everything else, including the case, power light, controller buttons and joysticks are all a mixture of standard Lego and Technic bricks.

Game on!

LEGO IDEAS – Kirby’s Dream Collection

December 6, 2022 By ausretrogamer

If Nintendo can have their consoles and Mario turned into Lego sets, then why not Kirby!

If you are a Kirby fan, then you need to head to Lego Ideas right now and put your vote in for Kirby’s Dream Collection by By _Ish_.

Looking at the photos of this Kirby Lego creation, the set will most definitely look good next to the Super Mario one. Now go and vote for it!

By _Ish_ says:

This set includes many iconic locations from the Kirby games including: Green greens the first stage, Castle Dedede Home of the evil King Dedede and his Waddle Dee minions, And Metta Knight’s battle-ship, Halberd.

This set works well for display or you can play with it using the props and alternate face-plates. I made this set because Kirby and Lego have both been huge parts of my life for years. Ever since I discovered Kirby I’ve been creating my own Kirby characters and stories. When I discovered Lego I started building all kinds of crazy locations for my figures to roam around in. When I put the two together.. It made this. I think this would be a phenomenal Lego set because it’s a colorful family-friendly game that kids will enjoy and a classic that’s sure to bring back memories for adults too.

LEGO Ideas – The Legend of Zelda

June 16, 2020 By ausretrogamer

How darn awesome is it when you get notified of a new LEGO Ideas creation? Well, we think that it is!

This new LEGO Ideas entry by Willjeum is based on Nintendo franchise stalwart, The Legend of Zelda. The LEGO Legend of Zelda – Lynel Defense, features a small build of the Hyrule castle front gates (inspired by the Hyrule castle from Ocarina of Time) and two Lynels (inspired by the golden and red Lynels from Breath of the Wild), as well as figures of Link, Zelda and two Hyrule Guards.

This custom build has an impressive 737 parts, so this is one hefty LEGO Ideas submission. Voting is still open, so if you like this custom Lego set, hop to it.

It’s-a me, LEGO Super Mario

March 13, 2020 By ausretrogamer

With everything going on in the world right now, you’d be forgiven for missing some big (geeky) news. Thanks to our friends (Phil and Kristy – you guys rock!), we’ve been informed that Lego will be releasing a new playset and characters based on Nintendo’s coveted franchise, Super Mario!

The below video hints at what fans can expect when LEGO Super Mario launches later this year, showing a player using an interactive Mario figure collecting coins in a real-life game level that has been created with LEGO bricks.

Reading through the press release, this passage made us get quite giddy,

“Neither a video game nor a traditional LEGO brick-based set, LEGO® Super Mario™ is a new product line that features an interactive LEGO Mario figure who collects coins in real-life game levels created with LEGO bricks. The new line will let kids experience the playful world of Super Mario like never before.”

To say we are excited would be the biggest understatement of 2020! We can’t wait for this to be released (later this year)!
