New LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter

April 24, 2023 By ausretrogamer

“Red Five standing by”

As a LEGO sucker, I mean a fan, yeah, let’s go with a LEGO fan, this teaser video from LEGO that I found on Facebook of their new Ultimate Collector Series version of the T-65 X-Wing Starfighter is mind blowingly detailed – with updated and authentic wing and engine design along with a new cockpit interior. There is even a place for your R2-D2 droid figure in the socket behind the cockpit!

With 1949 LEGO bricks to build this detailed X-Wing, you better get onto it on May the 4th and blast off to fight for the Rebel Alliance!

NOTE: This new set will be released on May 4th (Star Wars Day) and will retail for AU$369.99

May the 4th Be With You – Happy Star Wars Day!

Introducing the Lego Nintendo GameCube and Controller

March 21, 2023 By ausretrogamer

YouTuber Peter Knetter has built a fully functional Lego Nintendo GameCube with a matching GCN controller!

The hardware inside the console and controller of course aren’t made from Lego, Peter has repurposed an existing GameCube’s internals for both the console and controller, but everything else, including the case, power light, controller buttons and joysticks are all a mixture of standard Lego and Technic bricks.

Game on!

LEGO IDEAS – Kirby’s Dream Collection

December 6, 2022 By ausretrogamer

If Nintendo can have their consoles and Mario turned into Lego sets, then why not Kirby!

If you are a Kirby fan, then you need to head to Lego Ideas right now and put your vote in for Kirby’s Dream Collection by By _Ish_.

Looking at the photos of this Kirby Lego creation, the set will most definitely look good next to the Super Mario one. Now go and vote for it!

By _Ish_ says:

This set includes many iconic locations from the Kirby games including: Green greens the first stage, Castle Dedede Home of the evil King Dedede and his Waddle Dee minions, And Metta Knight’s battle-ship, Halberd.

This set works well for display or you can play with it using the props and alternate face-plates. I made this set because Kirby and Lego have both been huge parts of my life for years. Ever since I discovered Kirby I’ve been creating my own Kirby characters and stories. When I discovered Lego I started building all kinds of crazy locations for my figures to roam around in. When I put the two together.. It made this. I think this would be a phenomenal Lego set because it’s a colorful family-friendly game that kids will enjoy and a classic that’s sure to bring back memories for adults too.

LEGO Ideas: Table Football

November 3, 2022 By ausretrogamer

Whoa! Another darn cool Lego Ideas creation that will become an official Lego Ideas set!

Donát Fehérvári (aka Constructions by Donat on LEGO Ideas) created a fully functional and playable Lego Table Football (aka: Foosball Table) as part of last year’s We Love Sports contest, and won! Securing 1,244 public votes, not only did Donát win the Grand Prize, the Lego Ideas Review Board also decided to turn this awesome creation into an official Lego Ideas set!

Consisting of 2,399 LEGO elements, legendary football players Thierry Henry and Marcus Rashford take each other on in the new video showing off the Lego Ideas set. Each player can first build their five-a-side team of LEGO minifigures plus a crowd of teammates and fans that watch from the sides from over 60 different elements before competing in a match.

Lego Ideas: Game Boy Colour Transformer “PRISMATIS”

July 15, 2022 By ausretrogamer

We love Lego Ideas that have a nostalgic link to our past, just like this Game Boy Colour Transformer “PRISMATIS” by Baron Von Brunk.

Built in 2017, this particular Lego Ideas entry is based on an iconic full-size 1990s Game Boy Color, with its crisp lime green colours, a battery case on the back that comes off to store two batteries that double as missiles – how clever! Baron tells us that the transformation process is straight forward without the need to remove parts. The Transformer arms and hands are articulated with individual fingers on each hand – talk about attention to detail! Oh yeah, how cool is that speaker vent – another great touch to this very cool Lego Ideas entrant.
