What toys will you be getting this Christmas? If you want to get an idea of what holiday toys have been popular over the last 50 years, take a look at the below infographic. Do you recognise or still have any of these toys? Looks like Atari, Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony made the list. I can’t believe Commodore nor Sega didn’t make the cut – must be an American list (haha!).

Mario from 1989 would have never dreamed of leaving the comfort of his 2D world for the more glamorous 3D one.
Well, Mario has finally relented and has hopped right into 3D. Watch the little burly Italian plumber navigate his new found world!

This could be the coolest use of old home computers and consoles. We all love playing video games on these nostalgic time pieces, but Glasgow filmmaker, James Houston decided to use these so-called outdated relics for something totally unique, creating music!

James uses Sega Mega Drives, an Atari 2600 Jr, Game Boys, disused floppy disk drives and even a Commodore 64 amongst the repertoire of old equipment. The acoustics within the dry swimming pool just add to the awesome sound. Turn it up and enjoy!

After ausretrogamer’s glowing endorsement of the Nintendo World Store in New York City, I knew that I had to check it out and see what the big deal was all about. Once I hit the ‘Big Apple’, I knew exactly where to go.
Unlike my friend, I did not have my retro-gaming-tinted-glasses on. Don’t get me wrong, the Nintendo World Store is a magical place, especially the classic Nintendo section on the second level. I just felt that it needed more, perhaps an interactive setup of their classic gaming systems would have done the trick.
Comparing with ausretrogamer’s Nintendo World Store photos, I noticed that there had been some changes to the classic area exhibit. Gone was the Game Boy that survived a scud missile attack in the Gulf War. The other change was to the Nintendo (video game character) franchises – they were replaced with a timeline of Nintendo’s systems. The exhibits were still quite spectacular and managed to give me a hit of nostalgia.
Can I recommend the Nintendo World Store to you? It would be remiss of me not to. It is a great place to show your children the hardware and games you grew up on and perhaps for you to reflect on a bygone era of video gaming.
For more photos of my visit to the Nintendo World Store, check out the album.

Is Mario really insane? Watch and find out.

Nintendo buys Star Wars? Before you have a coronary, relax – this video by James Farr depicts what would occur if the Japanese video gaming giant procured the Star Wars rights from Disney.
The story goes something like this (in typical Star Wars roll-up-the-screen fashion):
Super Smash Wars
Quest Log IV: A Link To The Hope
When Phantom Lord Ganon-Darth unveils his latest weapon, it will be up to Link Skywaker to learn the ways of the TRIFORCE, and lead a rag-tag rebellion against the Empire.
You know if Nintendo was involved with Star Wars, it would be nothing short of SUPER!
