An Amazing Custom Pac-Man Analog Synthesizer

February 1, 2022 By ausretrogamer

These folks at Swedish uber design group, Love Hultén, sure know how to catch our attention (again!) and make our jaw drop!

Just check out this Pac-Man themed analogue synthesizer based on the Korg Minilogue – it’s darn amazing! Oh yeah, the chiptunes it generates are equally as awesome!

Sega and Taito Sounds Hit The KORG Gadget On The Nintendo Switch

July 10, 2019 By ausretrogamer

As Queen’s Freddy Mercury once sang, ” Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?“. Could we be dreaming? The KORG music production studio will allow (from July 11) you to create 80s Sega arcade game sounds and Taito FM synth sounds on your Nintendo Switch.

Yep, dreams do come true! With the awesome collaboration between ‘SEGA’ and ‘TAITO’, version 3.0 of the KORG Gadget for Nintendo Switch is a reality that will include the 2 new gadgets – Sega’s Otorii and Taito’s Ebina!

Check out the video below and head to the KORG news site for more info on this music making awesomeness. July 11 can’t come fast enough!

Ultimate C64 Chiptunes

August 21, 2013 By ausretrogamer

C64_breadbox

In all honesty, picking my favourite C64 chiptune is like finding a needle in a haystack – it’s impossible. With maestros like Hubbard, Dunn, Follin, Dalglish, Maniacs of Noise, Tinman, Tel, Galway to name a few, the task is all the more daunting.

Like any ‘best of’ list, it is all subjective and down to personal taste. I had the pleasure in narrowing my all time favourite chiptunes to my ultimate top 25.

Let the nostalgic SID sounds wash over you!

There you have it – the ultimate 25 C64 chiptunes. Controversial list? You be the judge.

Like with any pleasure, there is the agony – the agony of leaving out music from: Arkanoid, Bionic Commando, Robocop, The Untouchables, Rastan Saga, Dragon Ninja, Dan Dare 3, Yie Ar Kung Fu, Midnight Resistance and most agonising of all, Commando – sorry Mr Hubbard.
