Monopoly Theme Park Coming To Melbourne

July 21, 2022 By ausretrogamer

The developers of the popular Monopoly theme park in Hong Kong, Derek Lo and Stephen Lo, are hoping to capitalise on the popularity of the board game by opening a second Monopoly themed park called Monopoly Dreams, in Melbourne, with all the trimmings of the iconic board game, like passing GO, going to jail, Community Chest and as well as Chance!

The $20 million dollar Melbourne location will be modelled on the original site and will be a considerable 1,650 square metre Monopoly themed indoor park inside Melbourne Central.

There will be a total of 15 attractions across the expansive space, split into two sections where guests will be able to win real prizes. Guests will also be able to win money to spend in the on-site café and retail store.

There’s no set date as to when Monopoly Dreams Melbourne will open, though it’s likely to be later in 2022.

I Have the Power: Mattel Adventure Park

May 27, 2022 By ausretrogamer

This may not be new news for some, but we thought we’d share it anyway – Masters of the Universe, Barbie and Mattel Games are some of the eye-popping attractions that will be at the new Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale, Arizona (USA)! It’s another automatic bucket list entry for us at Ausretrogamer!

The amusement park, which is a collaboration between Mattel, Inc. and Epic Resort Destinations, LLC, is set to open early 2023. Other recently announced experiences include a Hot Wheels roller-coaster and go-karting, a Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends indoor park. Barbie will be involved by way of a beach house flying theatre, hologram technology and a rooftop F&B area.

But wait, there is more! There will also be a nine-hole mini-golf experience, as well as a Masters of the Universe’s Castle Grayskull that will be transformed into a 4,500+ sq. ft. state-of-the-art laser tag arena where fans “have the power” to fight for Eternia. This all sounds pretty darn good to us. We can’t wait for this adventure park to open!

Still Dreaming About Super Nintendo World

February 19, 2021 By ausretrogamer

The way this pandemic is still playing out, we won’t be making any traveling plans any time soon.

Luckily for us, our bucket list is immune to viruses! Still at the top of our bucket list is the Super Nintendo World themed area at Universal Studios Japan! We know this is old news, but we thought it is worth focusing on some fun stuff, again. This themed area is an absolute MUST for any Nintendo or gaming fan (or theme park fan) that is fond of Nintendo’s huge video games franchises.

We are already planning our itinerary, so we can’t wait to grab our Power-Up bands, hit the 1UP Factory for some shopping and grab a bite to eat and sip some coffee at Kinopio’s Cafe  😉

PS: If you want to see each pic in its full-blown resolution, just click on it and let your eyes feast on the awesomeness!

Nintendork Gets Nostalgic At Hersheypark

August 8, 2018 By Guest Contributor

By: Nintendork

It’s one of those things you never thought about when growing up – that these huge and heavy arcade machines would one day disappear and the amusement centres housing them would become extinct.

I always thought that arcade machines would be here to stay and that they would remain popular as ever with everyone. How wrong was I? Luckily for me, Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania is the big exception. Hersheypark could have gotten rid of their old arcade cabinets long ago but they decided to keep them and maintain them in working order. I love having my physical console games from when I was little and in this instance it is great to see these big arcade games remaining exactly the same as when I was a child, making them that extra bit special. To know that I put quarters in their Double Dragon machine when I was 12 and am playing the exact same game right now and doing the same thing beating up baddies means the world to me.

Hersheypark is the perfect destination for a hit of gaming nostalgia. Enjoy the pics!
