‘Boom Raider’ By Fury Fingers Films

January 22, 2016 By Ms. ausretrogamer

You already know we love Fury Fingers Films’ work, and now we have one more reason to love them because they’re back with another amazing video game parody film – this time they have set their sights on Rise of the Tomb Raider. In ‘Boom Raider’ watch Lara (played by the very talented ShiveeeJam) work hard to find just the right shot to make that red barrel go ‘BOOM!’.

Eight Players, Eight Projectors And One NES

December 15, 2015 By Ms. ausretrogamer

picResearchers from the Game Technology Center at Zurich’s ETH University have created an awesome modified NES to allow panoramic output via 8 projectors and collaborative multiplayer gameplay via 8 controllers.

console‘We propose a hardware and software system that transforms 8-bit side-scrolling console video games into immersive multiplayer experiences. We enhance a classic video game console with custom hardware that time-multiplexes eight gamepad inputs to automatically hand off control from one gamepad to the next… With this system, side-scrolling games unfold across the walls of the room to encircle a large party, giving the feeling that the entire party is taking place inside of the game’s world.’ – Wow!

‘Metroid: The Sky Calls’ By Rainfall Films

November 9, 2015 By Ms. ausretrogamer

pic 1

‘Metroid: The Sky Calls’ is a beautiful live action short by Rainfall Films set in the Metroid universe. It is directed by Sam Balcomb and stars Jessica Chobot (Nerdist) and America Young (Halo 5).

pic 2

‘The classic Nintendo franchise, Metroid, envisioned through the lens of 60s-70s science fiction cinema such as 2001, Alien, and Solaris: this was the concept for Rainfall’s most recent production. Instead of using a modern approach, a style was developed more in tune with the themes that inspired the first Metroid game in 1986: isolation, exploration, and the wonders of deep space.’
