A New Retro-Indie Fanmade Game: Mighty Final Fight Forever

May 16, 2024 By ausretrogamer

Mighty Final Fight Forever is a fanmade beat ’em up project following on from the original Mighty Final Fight game released by Capcom in 1993

Indie developers Bouncer Games are working on a new game called Mighty Final Fight Forever, a redesigned and a complete remake of Capcom‘s 1993 release on the 8-bit NES, Mighty Final Fight.

Ausretrogamer reader, Vasek T. had the chance to play the demo version and reckons it looks “really promising”. Being huge beat’em up fans (Double Dragon and Final Fight are our fave) and judging by the gameplay teaser below, we reckon this overhaul and remake of 1993’s Mighty Final Fight is definitely right up our alley!

To say we can’t wait for this to be released would be a huge understatement.

PS: The Free Demo (Windows) version can be found here.

JAPAN: Retro Arcade Gaming In Osaka

May 13, 2024 By ausretrogamer

👾Retro arcade gaming at Retro Games Zarigani!👾

Ausretrogamer’s intrepid traveller, Brant Raven, found himself in Japan last month during the ever-popular Cherry Blossom season.

But Dr. Raven wasn’t there just to admire the Sakura, nosiree, he also found time to seek out some old school Japanese arcade parlours. He did find one in Osaka, the Retro Game Center Zarigani, located at the foot of Tsutenkaku Tower in Shinsekai.

What Brant found was a treasure trove of classic arcade machines, including the Yu Suzuki designed SEGA favourites, OutRun and Afterburner – both in their Deluxe cabinets. To say we wish we were all there would be a gross understatement.

Check out all these precious machines!!!

May The 4th Be With You, Happy Star Wars Day!

May 3, 2024 By ausretrogamer

May The 4th Be With You All

There are three certainties in life, Death, Taxes and Star Wars products to buy on Star Wars Day, May the 4th! This year is no exception, with our inbox being bombarded with Star Wars stuff and sales to tempt us.

Out of the three certainties, at least Star Wars products are fun. We still love our Stern Star Wars Comic Art pinball machine, but this year we are keen on some Lego Star Wars gear to celebrate May The 4th, like the new (and quite expensive at $239.99) Lego book, The Force of Creativity. Most of the book includes commentary from LEGO and Lucasfilm employees, providing an opportunity for plenty of fun anecdotes and information about product development and their (Lego and Lucasfilm) collaboration in creating Lego Star Wars sets.

The best bit about this year’s celebration is that the 4th falls on a Saturday, so no need to take a ‘sickie’ to use the Force. If you are that way inclined (being on the Dark Side of the Force), perhaps you can take a ‘sickie’ on Monday (May 6th) to celebrate May The Sith Be With You.

No matter which side you are on, Happy Star Wars Day to you all!

‘ElectroCop’ (1989)

‘Blue Lightning’ (1989)

‘Blue Lightning’ thrusts players into the cockpit of an advanced fighter jet as they engage in high-stakes aerial combat across a variety of landscapes. With fast-paced gameplay and a standout graphical style, players must navigate through enemy territory, dodge incoming fire, and unleash devastating firepower upon enemy targets. As they progress through increasingly challenging missions, players must showcase their piloting skills and strategic prowess to emerge victorious in this adrenaline-pumping arcade flight experience.

‘Gates of Zendocon’ (1989)

Embark on an intergalactic journey through perilous alien worlds and face off against a horde of deadly adversaries controlled by the sinister Zendocon. Armed with an array of powerful weapons and upgrades, players must navigate through treacherous terrain, blast through waves of hostile creatures, and ultimately confront the formidable bosses guarding the gates to the heart of the Zendocon empire. With its engaging gameplay and sci-fi atmosphere, ‘Gates of the Zendocon’ delivers an epic space-faring adventure that will test players’ skills and courage.

‘Todd’s Adventures in Slime World’ (1990)
