LEGO 8-Bit Trip 2 – Awesome Stop Motion Animation

September 6, 2021 By ausretrogamer

Amazing Swedish band Rymdreglage have followed up their 2009 LEGO 8-Bit Trip stop motion video (which took them 1,500 hours to make!) with an even more awesome LEGO 8-Bit Trip 2!

The Trip 2 stop motion video pays tribute to some of the most iconic video games of all time in super duper 4K resolution – it is oh sooo lovely!

LEGO Ideas: The Karate Kid

August 10, 2021 By ausretrogamer

With the popularity of Cobra Kai, of course it was only a matter of time before some clever peep would create the infamous ‘All Valley Karate Championship’ duel between Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence, complete with Daniel San’s all conquering crane kick with Lego bricks!

If you haven’t guessed, this LEGO Ideas design is based on the 1984 The Karate Kid film, depicting the final fight scene between the protagonist, Daniel and his nemesis from Cobra Kai, Johnny.

The posable characters are really cool, so surely all of you The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai fans will give this a vote!

July 9, 2021 By ausretrogamer

Another darn awesome Lego Ideas entry by Bricks Down Under that tickles our nostalgic nerve!

This playable Lego Space Invaders arcade game replica has the charm of the 1978 arcade machine that took the video gaming world by storm. We reckon Tomohiro Nishikado would be quite impressed too.

If you want this Lego Ideas Space Invaders to become a real Lego set you can buy from your fave retailer, make sure you go and vote for it now!

LEGO Star Wars Helmets Collection

March 9, 2021 By ausretrogamer

While enjoying some much needed time off during the summer break, we finally got around to completing a fun project that had been on our plate for months!

With the way 2020 turned out, we really had no excuse of procrastinating on our already lengthy to do list. So when the Festive Season rolled around, we unboxed and started to build our Lego Star Wars Helmets! The experience of building these Lego sets had a calming effect, which was a great and unexpected by-product! We didn’t build these in one sitting, we basically did about an hour each day for about a week. Oh yeah, the instruction were awesome and a breeze to follow!

As mentioned, the build didn’t take as long as we imagined, but that may have something to do with the excitement and fun we were experiencing while completing each Star Wars helmet. Once they were all done, we found the perfect home for them – right on top of our Star Wars Comic Art pinball machine!

We reckon this custom pinball topper compliments the pinball’s Star Wars villainous artwork just perfectly – but we are biased 😉

Lego Sonic Mania – It’s Happening!

February 8, 2021 By ausretrogamer

Remember when we told you to vote for the Sonic The Hedgehog (Sonic Mania) Lego set on Lego Ideas back in 2019?

Well guess what, your vote helped, as this creation garnered over 10,000 votes, meaning Lego has approved this set to become an actual product you can buy – woohoo! Lego is tweaking and finalising the set’s design, we just hope it is as close as possible to the original Lego Ideas submission! Can’t wait for this to be on store shelves and build Sonic’s world out of Lego!

The Mystery of the Lego Game Boy Advance SP

January 11, 2021 By ausretrogamer

When our Twitter friend, Brad, informed us of a mysterious find in our hometown of Melbourne, we thought we’d let you all know!

The mysterious find by YouTuber, Sleepy Ursaring, is a huge 10 kilogram Lego Game Boy Advance SP replica that looks absolutely awesome with a level of detail that is simply amazing. Could it be a retail store display or was it made for a Lego Ideas project? Who knows? All we know is that the inscription on the back of the replica states that it was ‘Made in Windsor’ by ‘KT+IW ’04’.

We wish we had the answer, but we don’t! We had a chat with Sleep Ursaring on Twitter, and were advised that this find was part of a retro gaming haul, with all contents at the property up for the taking – now that is darn awesome! If anyone knows more about this Lego Game Boy Advance SP creation, please hit us up via Twitter or Facebook (or email, if you are that way inclined).
